Introduction
In our department, you’ll be using several different usernames and passwords. We recommend using a password manager to keep track of them. For example, we’ve had good experiences with KeePass (https://keepass.info/). Wherever possible, you should also enable multi-factor authentication for added security.
TU-Accounts
The username uses the first letter of the first name and up to the first 7 letters of the last name (maximum 8 characters). For example, Erika Example becomes eexampl. Most of the time, the short username is used on its own. For some services, something may be added to it (like @intern.tuwien.ac.at), which is usually shown on the website where you log in.
Different accounts may use different passwords, which you can change via the website https://login.tuwien.ac.at/. If you’ve forgotten your TU account password, please contact the system administrator – he can reset it for you.
PET-Accounts
All logins in our department (Privacy Enhancing Technologies) use the short TU account username, but with a separate password.
You can reset your password at https://account.apps.pet/, or ask your system administrator for help.

TISS (TU Wien Information Systems & Services) is the central campus information system of TU Wien. It provides a wide range of digital services and essential information for students and staff.

Before you can use the TU Wien Wi-Fi, you need to set a password for your Network Account (WLAN, VPN) via the account management portal: https://login.tuwien.ac.at/passwort/mitarbeiter/.

For configuring eduroam, the eduroam Configuration Assistant Tool is a helpful resource: https://cat.eduroam.org/.
The TU Wien Library is available at https://www.tuwien.at/en/library/. The link is only accessible from within the TU network or via a VPN connection. VPN connections require a separate password, as described in the Wi-Fi setup instructions. A guide for setting up the VPN is available at https://vpn.tuwien.ac.at/.
To access the WiFi network (“eduroam”), you may need to request a network account via https://oase.it.tuwien.ac.at/ZID-DB.amsAccounts; if that link doesn’t work, you can also go to https://www.it.tuwien.ac.at, click Rechte und Rollen, then Online Account Management, select Eigene Accounts under Funktionen, and choose Account beantragen under Netzwerk—the IT admin will then receive an email to approve the request. To configure eduroam, the easiest way is to use https://cat.eduroam.org/.

VPN Access
VPN access is required for certain internal services, such as printing when connected via Wi-Fi. We use a WireGuard-based VPN setup. Setup instructions can be found here:

Printing
To print from a device connected via Wi-Fi, you must be connected to the VPN. The printer is available at IP address 128.130.140.133 and requires the appropriate driver.
